Co-parenting Chronicles

Saying goodbye to this child of the village never gets any easier.

We were hanging out just before he leaves to spend his holiday with the other half of his family.

Am conflicted because as much as I looove to spend time alone.......I will miss mothering him.

Every CoParenting journey is unique...and mine has had its fair share of complexities - the highs, the lows and everything in between.

It's been a 10-year journey of working through all the murk and mirth that comes with raising a child in two worlds.

No parent ever sets out to put their child in this space...and for many, the guilt that comes with it can push you to swing from being too easy on your children (to compensate), to coming down too hard on them (so that they do not end up like all the statistics that are thrown around about children from 'broken homes').

Frankly, what has worked for me is continuously working on myself through coaching, therapy, an amazing social support system and trusting that this child belongs to God.

So we had a great conversation over brunch, said our byes and got a book about his current most favorite person.

Given my co-parenting journey, I am passionate about supporting parents going through separation, divorce or co-parenting transitions.

It is possible to raise healthy, wholesome children as you work through these transitions.

What are the highs and the lows of your co-parenting journey?
